And then the other stuff

We had our first weekend up at the cabin and it was great! It's been so BLASTED hot around here lately that the idea of going up in the mountains seemed delightful! It was 78 degrees up there even! That is CRAZY! But better than 105 so I will take it!

The kids had a lot of fun running around outside, so happy that we had so many extra sets of hands for Grey and Asher, it made it much easier than I expected. Nothing like having a little runner next to a freezing river. Scary! Duncan and Ian are at the age where they are okay being checked on every few minutes but Asher has some growing to get to that point. He is crazy.

On the way home I noted where my half marathon starts so I could envision running down the mountain. Wahooo!!! It's going to be awwwwesome!

Matthew did the Spartan Beast Run this last weekend with Brandon and he did all of the obstacles which is great. He has been working really hard over the last few months to try and get ready and he did it! He didn't want to drag the group down... little did he know, he had nothing to worry about. There was another guy in the group that wasn't doing well at all, they ended up walking most of it and being one of the very last teams in! I feel bad for him that he didn't get to go all out and see what he could do but there's a next time. The medal he got was this little chinsy piece of tin. Not to be all bling hungry... but 12 miles, 24 obstacles and that ugly green thing? My 10k medal was way better!

We were fortunate to meet another HPE family with little 18 month Liam and it was so fun. Liam is also a twin and his brother was running around the house like crazy (that's why we met here, chid proof and easy!) and Liam was just little little happy butter ball! He reminded me a lot of Dylan when she was younger, just happy to be here, super smiley when you would talk to him. He looks like he is going to do fabulous, he has control of his hands and limbs which is great for his future! So fun to meet another HPE kiddo in person. I got to snuggle him up a good bit too!

One thing that Matthew and I have joked about a little bit from the visit was that Liam's mom asked us what we did to try and stay connected with each other. Not that she was concerned but let's face it, the odds are pretty much stacked against couples with special needs children. Matthew and I looked at each other... uhhhhh.... We don't do anything! I think people expect us to arrange a date night, time to be alone? Yea, we don't get any of that... that's just silly talk. We seem to still like each other a little though so that's good.

The other day the kids were watching Rio and the song came on at the end and Greyson got super sad! His little bottom lip stuck out and he was just trying to hard to maintain his composure. He tried and tried and then would just let out the saddest little cry! What in the world?? A couple of days later Matthew found the song on the iPad, Duncan loves it, and Greyson started with the lip again! Silly baby. HATES that song! (Or me singing it...)

Grey has started standing up to things and the other day he fell over and hit his head on the dresser. It doesn't look bad but it was bleeding. Real blood. Drip drip drip drip. Poor thing. Gross too, blood was everywhere but you wouldn't think it by looking at his head now. A teeny little mark.

We are getting ready for the third annual... fourth? Front Yard of Fire this Saturday which will be on Matthew's birthday. Matthew, in his same tradition, over bought the fireworks, and Eden and Brandon are bringing the snow cone and pop corn machine. It's been so much fun in the past it should be great.

Morning snuggles

Oh yea, Ian's pinki is totally up his nose.

Absolute cutest way to find my little girl sleeping. She looks totally typical snuggled up like this. she loves that bear!

Bathcicles. 100% chance of grossness.

Look at Liam! Isn't he cute?? He was smiling and hamming it up for the camera. ADORABLE.

I heard Asher get up and was waiting for him to come down stairs but... he changed his mind. Duncan woke up and said "Mom! Asher is asleep on the stairs!" and I told Duncan to step over him and come down, so he did.

Look at my cute niece Jenna being totally annoyed by Ian. What a good sport.

Fun at the cabin?

Dylan was loving the hammock.

As was everyone else. They were singing.

Coolest pellet gun ever. Duncan might need one. He thought he was big stuff!

Watch your hands son.

He thinks he is sooooo big. Noooo!
