Duncan has been seeing the Thomas commercials for weeks and leave it to him to assume that he was going. He was telling everyone... he was so insistent that I even asked Matthew if he had spilled the beans. Even the day before he told Ms. Debi that "next week we were going to go ride the Thomas Train!" I told here is was T R U E but it was going to be a S U R P R I S E and that he wasn't supposed to know! She said oh well, it will be fun either way.
Way to ruin a surprise kid!
So we got up early to get the family ready and drop Asher off with Aunt Ami for a fun filled day of animal crackers and pretzels. We opted to take only the big kids... Asher could care less at this point! And Aunt Ami likes a dose of baby every now and I then. Again, we are so lucky we have willing fmaily members so we can do these fun things!
It was a long drive but the kids were very patient. I had read online to get there a half hour earlier than your tickets but after we got there I determined that was the time we had been given. So we had a little bit of a wait until things were ready.
At one point Sir Topham Hat came out and Ian was mesmerized. He stopped in his tracks and just stared! Everyone was watching Ian watch Sir Topham because it was so cute. Ian was so tiny and Sir Topham kind of bent his knees and knelt down to look at Ian while he stared. Ian warmed up and was giving him high fives but that's all he wanted to do now so Sir Topham would be gesturing and Ian would think he was still high fiving. I think they could have been good friends even though Topham is a grumpster on the show!
It was a great day for a train ride, it was still a little cool and breezy when you were going. Sitting in very slow moving metal box can get a little hot. It was a bit warm, but not terrible. The crew came by to chat, there were a few engineers on hand to visit with the kids. They also passed out gift certificate to a local burger place and a couple of free train rides for use this summer. That was nice, the train rides are $15+ a piece and it's quite a family event for us all to be able to go so those tickets will help us be able to go again.
Over all I think Ian had way more fun that Duncan. Duncan was hot and grumpy and Ian was swept away in the whole thing. Maybe they just show their excitement in different ways? Ian would be a complete mess in Disneyland! Makes me want to take him! Maybe he and I will leave all the others behind. Ha!
Asher says "Yay!" now, since he started clapping and all... he clapped and I opened my mouth and he said "Yay!" for me. It was pretty cute. I think he is way ahead in the 'sounds that actually make sens'e department than our other kids have been. Though his other milestones are tracking his brothers' near perfectly. He also gives gooey open mouth kisses and 'hugs' that are actually head bonks, good ones too.
It's been so much fun with Owen back, the two boys next to each other are ADORABLE! Owen just needs to rub the walking off on Asher because even though Asher is very steady on his feet, he doesn't want to walk. They will stand together and look adorable and Owen loves to give him loves and kisses.
We went to Asher's 15 month appointment and he is now average in height. Remember when he was 75th percentile? Those days are long gone. He is now average, with a big head... so one of our boy! He weighs under the 5th percentile, he is not even on the chart at a svelte 20lbs 6oz. He didn't even cry for his two shots!
The big boys and daddy went swimming at Aunt Kristen's this weekend but I sayed home with Dylan and Asher. Dylan's not all about outside of course, or being contained... and while she would be fine inside, there was still Asher. He isn't okay any where not baby proofed! I heard they had a lot of fun so yay for dad for taking him. (And apparently Aunt Suzie for saving Ian's life, or at least preventing a freak out.)
The other night Duncan said "Uhhmmm, I think Charlotte is going to come see me tonight..." Random. And so Matthew let Duncan call Uncle Tracy and leave him a message to see if they could come over. When he called back the next day he said Asa was going to come by but Charlotte was at a birthday party and wouldn't be there. I think all Duncan heard was that Charlotte was coming over because he did not know why Charlotte didn't come too! So we made plans for her to come over tomorrow for a visit.
Dylan really seemed to enjoy the ride, maybe even more than Duncan. Boo to me forgetting the cute bows for her hair though!
Yea, cute. Checking out the scenery
This is a funny angle, but yay for almost getting a pic of the whole family.
Even in my 'eating for two' state!
Even in my 'eating for two' state!
Notice even the people behind watching and pointing at him. It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen.
Took Duncan a while to get used to the idea but he finally pushed past Ian for a hug. Ian was still mesmerized.
Waiting for the train.
Such a cute face
Duncan and Thomas. From a distance was just fine...
Duncan had a death grip on Ian, wanting to make sure Thomas didn't run him over.
Brothers are the best.
Duncan had his arm around Dylan but was asking Matthew a question. So cute.
Bright SUN!
For the normal train rides there is a little bit of a bandit problem... Something tells me Thomas should be excluded from the robbery scenario.
Can you see how freaked out they were?
I mean... they are outside the train now and Duncan STILL has his hands up!
Tracy was feeling *ahem* under the weather... but he still smiled with the babies for a picture!
(Had to throw this in for proper representation!)
