I know, I am a slacker!

Oh my word, I haven't updated in so long! Over a week, what a slacker! I kept thinking of things that I could share on here and of course now I have forgotten everything so... whatever. I just thought I better hurry and get something up while both kids are napping.

Dylan has been doing really well rolling all over. She is so cute. It seems like in just the last couple of weeks she has gotten a lot more responsive to you. smiling and being kind of flirty and stuff. We are pretty happy about that.

We took her to get her medicine yesterday and learn how to give her her daily shots. Matthew gave her one right in the office and she didn't even cry! It startled her a little but she was like... 'ooooo! Okay, whatever..." and moved on. The same with this morning. What a trooper! She is so tough! She has however decided that sleeping through the night is not a good thing anymore and being able to eat at 3 or so is just delightful. I am so tired! Little stinker! Yesterday after the shot appointment all three of us took a good long 3 hour nap though. It was wonderful! Trying to catch up a little.

The twinkies little 'friend' (sounds like a mom set up to me!) Jacob came over last Tuesday to play. Jacob is was also a preemie and we met his wondeful parents at the NICU. Michelle is one of those people who you wouldn't see for 6 months and she would go "So, how's Dylan? Didn't see have surgery recently?" Yes... one of those! The babies all see Pat for Physical Therapy and it's nice for them to be around others their same age to learn how to play. It was the 'mother of all play dates' with Dylan chasing Jacob and Jacob chasing Duncan on development!

That was my busy Tuesday because Melissa came over that morning (as well as this morning) to help me dig through the piles of girl clothes and start purging some of the ones that were more stained or had just gotten dated. It was a mess! And through two Tuesdays we only are through the 12 month bins! More to go, we will resume next Tuesday! That night mom, Bob and Beth came over for dinner too. It was fun, Duncan loved the brownies as evidenced below!

I am having such a hard time getting a good picture of Duncan lately because the red light that comes on first serves as a warning for the flash. So all my recent picture of him are alike, all with him kind of squinting in anticipation of the flash! Boo to that!

Beth feeding Duncan brownies take 1

And take 2... I think this was the next day.

Mom holding Dylie watching Grey's after dinner.

She was loving up this glow worm from Shane and Traci but I missed the moment.

Still not eating - but looking cute anyway!

Hugs and Kisses!

Okay - Yes, I am avoiding laundry...

The Fischios came over on Friday after we went to dinner and Charlotte and Duncan had so much fun playing! I took a lot of pictures but they proudly display Lottie's chocolate milk spill on her sweater... sooo... Anyway...

We had corned beef and cabbage with the family on Saturday. Aunt Jane and Uncle Dee were in town again and Trina and Steve came over as well so it was a full house. I love me some corned beef, I am going to have to cook it someday. Duncan loved it too! He just kepts shoveling it in... at least the meat anyway, the cabbage he didn't want much to do with. He almost made the same 'what the...?" face that he did when Shannon handed him the parsley at dinner. Cute...

Duncan has been so good about having Dylan on the floor, he just gives her a nice hug every once and a while and runs off. Occasionally he will crawl up, snag her toy, throw it to the side and crawl off. Not cool. But I suppose he will learn soon enough. At this point she doesn't even care.

Here's a hug (She's dressed for the day, he's obviously mid-undressing =) )

And more on video...

XOXO!

Soooo proud of my little Pickle!

Dylan's rolling status needs an update, hooray! So, last everyone heard (or saw) Dylan had become quite good at rolling from her tummy to her back. Her back was her comfy place, didn't take any energy to stay there so she would get there and just lay around. Not anymore! I have a little roly poly girl on my hands and it's wondeful!

She started playing with her feet several weeks ago and this is how babies usually learn to roll to their tummy, they tip over... Pat came yesterday to work with her and put her on her belly, and Dylan rolled right to her back and then right back to her tummy again! Why she waits to show off for Pat I have no idea but she did... and she did it several times while Pat was here! This is so good! She needs to just use it to get to the things she wants now, yay! No more couch for her, she has to be on the floor and I never know where I am going to find her if I leave the room, although, she doesn't prefer the hard floor! I am so proud of her, she's doing great!

She also has been catching herself from falling with her left arm and that's great too. That's part of learning to sit. We are going to work more on 'load-bearing' with her arms so she gets a bit stronger and can count on them to catch her from falling. Another thing, she looks for a toy that she's dropped. That's a developmental thing and it's definitely a step in the right direction.

When Dylan is on the floor in the living room Dyncan has been really good about not bugging her which is nice. I have been putting her on the floor a little here and there because I knew she would roll at some point. He really just wants to give her loves. He will lay his head down on her chest to 'hug' her and stuff. It's so cute. And better than her simply being a tool to help him reach something up high! The only problem is if she is in between him and something he wants, he will plow right through her but he's definately learning.

Daylight saving has my kids nap times and bed times all messed up. I though they weren't supposed to be affected? He did NOT want to take a nap a couple days ago so I went in and took pictures...
"Can I come out?"

"Please??" He's peeking through the slats of the crib.

And bath time yesterday, this kid's all over the place in there. No afternoon nap meant he slept almost 13 hours last night! I got to sleep in! Which is good since Dylan has me up in the wee hours of the morning for no good reason.

Beth and Daniel came over the other day and Duncan got to play dress up. With Matthew and that silly little motorcycle I can't believe he hadn't tried this before but it was Daniel who put on Duncan's first 'do -rag'.

Dylan and the Biter Biscut

Nuff said...

(And yes, it was all her, even the speck of biscut on her forehead.)

Yesterday was like Christmas at the Andersons! Grandma Shirley sent me some crochet and cross-stitch patterns that she was planning to get rid of. She sent me a book with kids coats and sweaters that was printed in 1968! I LOVED her packing material though! Two scarves! One for me and one for Traci! The best part... they totally smell like her house! (Is that wierd? It is isn't it? Oh well... I still love it!)

Fun fun fun

Here is a picture of Dylan almost sitting by her toy. Yes, that's my leg behind her. If you are to the side, but could still rescue her she gets wobbly. She does best went she is sitting in front of you... she will even sit on her own. I think she feels more secure. So close!

Duncan stands on his own and take a few steps here and there. It's much faster to crawl though, so he mostly takes a couple steps and then goes down and zips away. He was full on standing on his own and clapping for Jessica and Steve. Little show-off.

Mom had a HUGE birthday dinner for Greg and I on Saturday. There was so much food! It was delicious! And the Paoli's topped it off with a dinosaur cake that we almost lost in the fire. (The candles.) It was so fun! The Spomers came over too and it had been years since we had seen them so it was good to catch up!

Jessica and Steve came over after to finish the Bachelor After the Rose (Boo!) and they brought me presents and dessert for my birthday. I got some crochet essentials and a book on Crocheting little animals! They are so cute! Jessica bought herself one too and we are going to have to experiment, it will be so fun!

And for Dessert... Seriously... Have you ever seen anything so cute? Almost not edible...

This one was my favorite, it's called Breakfast at Tiffany's!

Duncan's biggest latest mess. He was having fun crawling as fast as he could through this pile of kitchen items because it made lots of fun noises!

Matthew got me flowers!

He got away from me...

He got away from me, and our house is pretty child proof so I didn't really need to worry. But, can I get a raised hand from anyone who has used TP that looked like this:

Because you found it like this?

We went to lunch with our favorite NICU nurse Patty yesterday and it was so good to see her! She's just gorgeous and the nicest person ever so it's always fun to catch up. It was a little tricky with two babies, and Dylan decided she was hungry so it ended up being a kind or brief, then rushed lunch... but it was fun all the same. Duncan also spilled over a full drink for the first time ever, I am sure I have more of that coming as well!

My dish rags are all gone! I had a neat stack going and *poof* I gave them away. I gave a super cute matching set of four to my neighbor Dana who always makes us cookies. And not just any cookies... she makes the BEST cookies ever! Matthew and I have battles over them. I do have the advantage though, since he's usually not home when she brings them over. Muhahaha! My note said "Thanks for the yummy cookies, we'll help you with dishes!" And all of the others went to Dylan's physical therapist Pat. She's so great and there's really nothing much we can do for her so when I hear she needs/wants something I will make it happen!

Mom came over last night so we could go out to eat for my birthday dinner. We went for a yummy steak and then stopped at the store after. We got a fun new toy for Dylan that she really likes. In fact Pat commented on how she has never seen Dylan this interested in toys. She really looked like she was playing with it and not trying to eat it which was good. She told me to give Matthew a big thumbs up on the toy selection.

And, for the record, Matthew did shave all of that silly facial hair off, it was gone on Monday. As in, all of it. He said that people thought no facial hair was just as distracting as terrible facial hair.

The binki theif. Duncan will grab Dylan's binki, if he sees it he goes in a dead run/crawl to scoop it up since he only gets his at bed time. She has these itty bitty binkis too! And this is what we get:

And just another quick picture of the cute little pickle and her odd number of teeth.

I must be getting older...

I have pink hair! I went for it... I always wanted to do it but well, I worked in corporate America and I couldn't really go for it. I didn't want them to stop paying me or anything! Jill did it on Thursday and chopped it off as well. It's pretty cute if I do say so myself. I have to go back and have her lighten the top a little more, my hair takes forever to go blond and well, the whole process took so long we were just DONE. I think we lowered her hourly rate to below minimum wage!

And I guess as payback Matthew decided to do something drastic with his facial hair. It's terrible. At least I have Jessica on my side. She apparently told him that she couldn't talk to him because it was too distracting. This would be a cute picture if not for the crazy hair!

Okay, it's still kinda cute!

And the other sign I am getting old? I opened a box of Lucky Charms on Saturday and I kid you not, they have got to be about 70% Marshmellow and 30% Oats. Disgusting! So I took a picture because I though no one would ever believe me! The bowl isn't even true to life since I kept taking them out to give to Duncan, who though the 70:30 mix was fantab! I shook the box and everything. I ended up adding Cheerios which worked perfectly by the way, even though Matthew said it violates some unwritten breakfast cereal law.

See, another sign I am getting old.

This reminded Matthew and I of a funny story from when we went to Lake Powell with a bunch of Michael's friends. Jared was eating his bowl of Lucky Charms one morning and he had carefully picked through the bowl and ate all of the little oats ones in preparation for the ever-rewarding, only marshmellow, final bites. Michael ran by, grabbed the bowl and dumped them right over the side of the houseboat. !SPLASH! and ran off after saying "Those are bad for you!" I think it's the only time I have ever seen Jared mad. Michael was in t r o u b l e! Hilarious!

So Aunt Jane sent me to some website that has like 50 dish rag patterns! It's fabulous! But after making a few I decided on my favorite and I have been cranking them out. I have plans on what to do with them that I can't quite disclose just in case the receivers read the blog (I am not sure if they do or not...) So you will have to just stay tuned to see where they end up. I bought a lot of the yarn to make them and they actually go pretty quick so if anyone wants a couple just let me know. Wendy came over to learn how to make them but I haven't got the update on how it's going. The cutest pattern wasn't the easiest... but once you get it down it's pretty simple. My other little project is on hold at the moment but I will get back to it.

Look how cute they are!

Beth came over to hang out on Saturday and it was fun, I was trying to talk her into bringing over one of her boyfriends so we could meet them and play games but it didn't work. She left early and ran off to their house. It came out that Matthew is rather intimidating to these strapping young men that she brings over! Boy are they in for it once they get to know him! He's not scary at all! (Except of course, the facial hair every now and then...)

This would be Beth feeding Duncan a rice krispie treat before bed, nice!

On Saturday we had a NICU meeting after they brought on a few new volunteers! Two that I know! It was so exciting to see those moms that I hardly ever see (except on Facebook!) and it was just a loud room full of chatty girls! We shared some inspirational stories to get things going. It was nice.

I took this picture of Tracy last weekend when they came over to play games. It was supposed to be a nice cute picture of him reading but Duncan lost it for some reason. Even Charlotte's not sure why. Tracy's face is priceless though so I had to add it!
