So the goal of the day was to get Dylan on some sort of 'Bowel routine' which is pretty typical for Spina Bifida kids, kids with bowel issues. Basically it's a way to try and get them going once or twice a day instead of all day.
We have a plan for Dylan now. There's some herb that will constrict the bowel in response to taking it. Basically forcing a b.m. instead of the irregular spasms and stuff that we think her bowel is doing now. What this means for me. A massive diaper change ONCE a day, instead of nasty changes 8 times a day! Now you can understand why the poo doctor got me all excited!
She said that there are all kinds of medications to try and work on this issue that we will be able to get things going in the right direction easily (pun intended!). Hooray! So the pharmacy needed to order in the stuff for us and we will get it in a couple of days. We will try it to see how long it takes her body to react (everyone's different) and then from there... we try to get a routine going. Once a day! Woooooohooo!
Dylan's NOT going to be the stinky kid in class! YAY!
I liked the doctor, more than I remember anyway, she spent a lot of time getting to know Dylan since it had been 8.5 lbs and 8.5 inches ago that she had seen her. I could tell that she spent some time reading up on Dylan's notes ahead of time too because of the questions that she asked. She gave us a copy of the plan and we can follow up with her if the first proposed solution gives us any trouble.
On Wednesday we had Macaela, who I believe would be my second cousin? That's my cousin's kid right? Who knows... but since my cousin Trina's 'Aunt' Trina, maybe Macaela can be my neice? If not unoffically? Anyway. She saved us from a tight situation, we had booked Dylan's GI appointment right after another appointment that I had and it was TIGHT. Even thought Matthew was off we needed someone to watch the boys so I could just meet Matthew and Dylan at the GI appointment. I mean, as much as he THINKS he knows about her bowels...
Anyway... she was a life-saver. I am sure she got a little bored around the middle of the day, around about nap time, but it picked up after Duncan woke from his nap. We went to Boondocks which I kept telling Duncan was Pizza Planet (Toy Story reference anyone?) where we rode on the GoKarts and bumper boats. Duncan was too short to ride as a passenger in the cars but he totally wanted to go with us! He cried, sad... He did get to go in the boats though and he just loved to push the button that would shoot the other boats with water. I am pretty sure Matthew used him as a shield since he was far more wet than Matthew was and Matt's a bigger target. Shady Matthew... shady.
I think a good time was had by all and we got 185 tickets from the machines (mostly doing silly things that I was just letting Duncan put the coins in for. We let Macaela spend them on junk. So, she got a boobie prize to take home. We ended up dropping her back off at Trina's at about 7:00. Long day! We would have taken her to dinner too but she preferred Trina's offer of pizza to our offer of cheese fries. As if!
I tried to put Ian and Dylan in the same room the last two nights and the first was an over-whelming success. Both slept all night. I went in in the morning, grabbed Dylan out and Ian slept another hour. Awesome right? Fast forward to last night, Ian screaming at about 3:30, Dylan in there happily playing and singing like a lark. Yea Ian, that's what she does. This is why you need to learn to sleep through it. I changed both (that's why she was up...) and fed him. She was still singing and playing so I put him in the pack and play in our room and he was fussing and crying so I figured if he was going to do that I might as well put them in together. So I did. He fussed for a minute and then quieted down. They were both awake when I left them and both asleep 25 minutes later. Works for me. Wish me a better night tonight!
In all the business of the last week or so I forgot to mention that Ian has his top two front teeth. they are BIG and silly looking. He's always making this squished together old man face. I even heard him grinding the top and bottom teeth yesterday. EEEEK! No! Blech.
No wonder why he's so chubby right? Double fisting it!!

Only tall enough for ONE thing!

I got a lot of these, Macaela chasing Matthew and Duncan. She's in hot pursuit.

Too bad she didn't have any fun at all.

SOAKED!

The human sheild - this isn't a happy face is it?
